Estonia - Tallinn

Day 178 - Wednesday, July 18

We arrived in Tallin midday and after checking in, we headed through the old town to one of the many really old churches and climbed another church tower for a nice view of the city:

We walked around a bit more, checking out the town square and quaint streets:

As demonstrated above, Mere had a habit of trying to wander into my pictures. Though largely unsuccessful in Scandinavia, she was a bit more successful in Estonia. We then headed over to Kompressor for some traditional Estonian pancakes (what they call pancakes are more like thick crepes), which come in savory and sweet form. We opted for one ham-and-brie and one banana-and-cinnamon (or chocolate or nutella, or some other such yummy ingredient). They were pretty awesome, but sorry, no photos. Blame Mere; she was in charge of food pics.

Day 179 - Thursday, July 19

We started the day with a free tour of the city, and saw some more stuff, of which I took too many pictures. Here are some pictures of that stuff, without any of the interesting explanation that we got on the tour.

Then Mere decided she wanted to shoot some guns, which she had never done. So that's what we did:

As you can see in the above photo, my free t-shirt from Cambodia, which at point actually fit, had shrunk a little bit, which I probably should've expected from a free Cambodian t-shirt. But at that point, it was the only clean shirt I had left.

In Europe, I think it's pretty standard to party until (and often well past) sunrise. Mere was leaving on an early morning flight. So, we had decided to join a pub crawl, with the plan to stay out until Mere had to leave for the airport, which I think we did, but I don't really remember much about the end of the evening. Oops. But, I am pretty sure that burritos were involved.

Day 180 - Friday, July 20

Friday was spent nursing a hangover, switching hostels, and doing much needed laundry. The only real item of note from Friday was that after I got to the new hostel, someone working there found me and asked me if I had left an Apple charger at the last hostel (they were affiliated). Hmm, let me check... Yep, no Apple charger. Seriously, I'm a mess.

Day 181 - Saturday, July 21

Saturday it rained most of the day, so it was a pretty lazy day for me. After having a lot (and perhaps too much) fun on the pub crawl Thursday, I decided to join another pub crawl on Saturday. At the second pub on the crawl, around 1AM or so, I realized I had left my fleece at the first pub. You are all shocked, I'm sure. So I headed back there and retrieved it, but then I couldn't seem to find my way back to the 2nd pub where everyone was, which was probably a good thing. But I was able to find the burrito place from Thursday night, which was definitely a good thing.

Day 182 - Sunday, July 22

I'm not sure who decided that it would be a good idea to take the concept of first class plane travel and apply it to buses, but they may be my favorite person ever. I traveled on LuxExpress from Tallinn to Riga, Latvia, and it was amazing. Large fully reclining seats with leg rests and individual entertainment centers with free (and good) movies, along with free wifi and electrical outlets at each seat. It was a life changing experience. I can't even imagine how much money I would've paid to have similar travel options in SE Asia.
