Day 243 - Friday, September 21
Friday night when I checked into my hostel, I was beyond excited to see that they had a common room, with quite fast internet, and the computer was connected to a 42" LCD, that served as a second monitor such that I could watch football on this TV almost as if I was back home in the US. It was a little bit of a miracle that for the Saturday with the college football game that I most wanted to see while I was traveling (Clemson v. FSU), I was at the hostel that had, without question, the best setup for such viewing out of all the places I had stayed in the previous 8 months.
Day 244 - Saturday, September 22
I didn't feel very well when I woke up, which was odd, because usually I'm like a kid on Christmas when I wake up on a Saturday that Clemson has a big game. With the 6-hour time difference, I had lots of time to go out and explore the city before football started. A few photos:
But not long after I had started to walk around did I start to feel really tired and sickly. Even a big chunk of this roasted pork wasn't enough to get me out of my funk:
So I went back to the hostel, took some meds for what I assumed was a cold, grabbed my pillow and blanket from the bed and curled up on the couch, just in time to catch the start of College Gameday. And that's where I stayed for the next 13 hours or so. (That's not technically true, of course, as I did leave the couch for a few bathroom breaks and to walk across the street for food at one point). And then finally, when Clemson was beyond all hope, I crawled in bed a little after 530am.
Day 245 - Sunday, September 23
Naturally, I slept quite late on Sunday, but did manage to get up and go out and explore a bit. I checked out the castle that overlooks the city and the awesome St. Vitus Cathedral within it:
A few other pics from Sunday evening as I wandered around:
Day 246 - Monday, September 24
Monday, I headed up to the mini Eiffel tower, which has nice views of the city:
A little later I passed this menu board:
which obviously left me wondering, what is a bread hillbilly? I was really close to going in and ordering it just to see what it was, but I resisted the urge. A few more pics from Monday:
