Day 211 - Monday, August 20
The plan was to wake up, checkout, and take the 11:30 ferry to Hvar, which is supposedly the nicest of the popular Croatian islands. I got to the ticket booth a little before 11 only to find out that the 11:30 ferry was sold out. Ugh. So I was stuck taking a mid-afternoon ferry instead. Hvar was definitely a very pretty spot and quite popular with the giant-yacht-owning crowd. A few photos from when I arrived:
Mid-August is prime tourist season, and the place I wanted to stay in Hvar,
Luka's Lodge only had a bed available for Monday. So I only spent one night in Hvar, but, due to a booking mixup, I got upgraded to a big private room, with a balcony that had a pretty nice view:
Hvar is known as a pretty big party town. So, that night a bunch of us from the hostel went out and explored the Hvar nightlife, which despite being a Monday, was a lot of fun.
Day 212 - Tuesday, August 21
My next stop was Korcula, but the ferry didn't leave until 6pm, so I had the day to explore Hvar some more. A few pictures as I wandered around in the morning:
I decided to get some exercise and climbed up to the old fortress at the top of the hill (visible in the pic above) and took more pictures:
And then I plopped myself down on a rock and proceeded to get sunburned in between swims in the amazingly clear water. A few more photos from the afternoon:
I would've liked to have stayed in Hvar for another night or two, but it wasn't in the cards, so I got on the ferry and headed on to my next island destination, Korcula.
Side note: on the ferry ride, I tried to cull and edit some of my photos, but my camera connection kit for my iPad was no longer working. I spent a good bit of time in Korcula trying to diagnose the problem, but as of getting this post up (Sept 2), it still isn't working. This may severely slow down how quickly summary posts get put up, because now I can't do any culling or editing on the iPad, and I will have to wait until I have access to other computers that I can use to upload photos.
