Montenegro - Budva

Day 217 - Sunday, August 26

After feeling like I was moving pretty quickly and taking a lot in, and after spending three nights in Dubrovnik at a hostel without air conditioning, internet or laundry facilities, I really just wanted to find a hostel that did have those things where I could just chill out for a few days, do some laundry, tend to my photos (that now required using a computer to edit/upload), and catch up on some emails, the blog, etc.

I found what looked like a pretty sweet hostel in Budva, Freedom Hostel - who doesn't love freedom, right? It had a free communal computer, A/C, was well reviewed, and ended up being a good spot to kick back for a few days.

The bus from Dubrovnik to Budva went via the Bay of Kotor, which was spectacular:

I kind of regretted choosing to go to Budva instead of Kotor, but I didn't see any good accommodation options in Kotor. Maybe next time...except I'll probably never find myself in Montenegro again. As planned, Sunday I did laundry, caught up on some emails and just relaxed at the hostel.

Day 218 - Monday, August 27

Monday I explored the city a little bit, and took a few pictures:

Budva has been called Miami of the Mediterranean and has sort of a poor man's South Beach feel to it. After exploring, I spent the afternoon and evening going through all my pictures from Croatia and getting them online.

Day 219 - Tuesday, August 28

Tuesday was filled with more laziness. I relaxed on the large balcony, socialized with the others at the hostel and spent some more time on the blog and on getting photos uploaded. At about midnight, when all the others went out, I went to bed so that I could wake up 5am for a fantasy football draft for a league with some buddies back in CA. But apparently it was amateur hour in CA and due to some technical difficulties the draft was scrapped and rescheduled. Good thing I woke up at 5am... I went back to sleep, but was up a few hours later to catch a bus to Albania.
